Get ready to shine in our Mini Pre-Competition class, designed for dancers aged 7-10 who are preparing to join one of our competition teams. This class focuses on building technical skills, teamwork, and stage presence, with an emphasis on cultivating a strong foundation in dance. Students will learn choreography, refine their technique, and develop the confidence needed to compete. With a supportive environment and individualised attention, this class sets the stage for future success on the competition floor. Perfect for dancers who are ready to take their training to the next level!

Our competition teams perform and compete all over the country in Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hiphop, Kpop, Bollywood and so much more. These teams are full of passionate students who work hard and perform harder. In these teams we focus on teamwork and supporting each other as well as pushing to be the best dancer each individual student can be. We expect students in these teams also do our Ballet and Acrobatics classes. These teams are selected carefully by our teachers.

Take your performance to new heights with our Aerials Dance Class! At Defy we are lucky enough to have a couple of the top aerialists in the country to teach this class. In this class you will work on aerial equipment including Silks, Lyra, Hammock and Trapeze. You’ll build strength, flexibility, and coordination while learning graceful and dynamic movements in the air. Perfect for dancers who want to add a unique and challenging element to their repertoire, this class offers an exhilarating way to express yourself through movement. Join us and soar above the rest!

Hoop is a fun and diverse manipulation prop that Defy Dance Academy offers. In this class you will learn a mix of hoop skills on different body parts as well as one and multi-person throws and catches and the ability to manipulate single and multi-hoop moves. We teach hoop in a dance format using both your body and the apparatus together, making it an exciting style to add to your performance repertoire. This class also teaches a mix of juggling with balls and clubs as well as some staff work.

At Defy Dance Academy any student can take solo classes. Some solo classes work on training solo dances for competitions and shows, while others can be to work on technique or extra help close to exams. Solo classes allow valuable one on one time with the teacher who can put their whole focus on you and guide you through every movement without the distraction of watching a whole class.

Our Adult Professional team of dancers perform at events nation-wide. These dancers are well trained and wish to continue dancing and performing at a high level without it necessarily being their full time job (although for some it is).
